in Response to the Report to the OSCE Permanent Council on Past, Current and Possible Future Activities of OSCE Field Operations to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism

delivered by Ambassador Arman Kirakossian at the 1101^st Meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council

Mr. Chairman,

We thank distinguished Director Alexey Lyzhenkov for presenting the Report on activities of OSCE field operations to prevent and counter violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism.

Countering VERLT should remain high on the OSCE agenda. We attach utmost importance to unconditional implementation of the Ministerial Council Declarations, adopted in Belgrade on Preventing and Countering VERLT and on Reinforcing OSCE Efforts to Counter Terrorism in the Wake of Recent Terrorist Attacks.

The implementation of these commitments, particularly those related to combating ISIL, Al Nusrah Front and all other terrorist groups and entities, associated with Al Qaeda is one of the key areas of countering and preventing violent extremism and radicalization .

We see an important role of the Secretariat and the TNT Department in promoting implementation of the above OSCE commitments particularly in those participating States where there is no OSCE field presence. We encourage the Secretariat to be more active also in this regard.
